i need a new blog project! in my head it seemed original, but come to find out it isn’t. no, not one bit.
on facebook you can find a bunch of bloggers telling su2c what they stand for. shown here is brad from cancer is boring. (brad, i very much agree.)
nevertheless, i’d like you to send me your pictures – here’s the twist – of you in your standup2cancer t-shirts telling me for what, whom or why you’re standing up. i’ll add your photos to the help me make a stand page, much like the locks of love page, and pimp your blog, store, cd release… you name it.
so, go on, get busy! go to the su2c shop at cafepress and order your shirt. then send me your photos of you in said shirt with your sign and whatever info you’d like published alongside your photo.

today is the day i start my journey on the road to battle, my second battle, against hodgkin’s lymphoma. i’m asking you, my friends, my family, my neighbors, my husband’s co-workers, my best friend’s school, my stylist’s salon, my doctors and nurses, my blogosphere cohorts, my readers, to join me. walk alongside me, hold my hand and help my family as we once again stand up to cancer.
in my previous post, i mentioned the su2c.org team i started. have you joined yet? have you donated? did you help spread the word?

aren’t you just dying to know what i might be doing at 8:49 am, 2:43 pm and, say, 7:38 pm? what i’m having for dinner? what i think of the current primetime network hdtv offerings? what package just got delivered? think of the excitement!
if plurk and wordpress were better friends, then i’d have a nifty little widget like the on you see here, somewhere in my sidebar. but they aren’t. and wordpress isn’t trying to make any new friends. so you’ll just have to settle for the ugly rss feed of my plurks.

i’m a slave for you. no, really. i think about you day and night. bloggity this, bloggity that, blog, blog, blog. i know i’ve been a little distant the past week, but i think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with what excitement i have for you tonight!
as i mentioned on friday, jenny came for a visit. she also shaved my head. surprise!
there’s a video, too, but we’ll have to wait for jen to send it to me. it is sure to delight one and all!
i’ve been out and about sans hair and all went well. well, i mean, jeez, how else did you think it would go? no small children ran in fear, the elderly have taken a keen interest in me and the teens are holding strong, remaining totally self-absorbed and obnoxious as ever.
nugget’s tantie is here until tuesday and then her grandmamie will be back. i have chemo dose #4 this thursday. i can’t believe it’s almost time for that again! the first week in august i’ll be getting pet and ct scans to see just how much cancer ass the chemo’s kicked already.
my little cabbages, i know you must think i’ve forgotten about you. mais, non! i think about you day and night. it’s just that sometimes those pesky chores of life, you know, building a house two and half hours away, raising a toddler, having cancer, having a sister and not one, but two dear friends in town, are using up all my minutes and i haven’t got any rollover. but fear not, we’re working on something amazing at chez bits as i type.
jenny is on her way over for paninis with nugget, tantie and me. then there are major plans in the works. m-a-j-o-r. you will not be disappointed!
we’re just going to have to take things slow. i mean, i like you, i really do, i just need some time to myself today. but tonight, i promise, we’ll have some special time together. just you and me and some spectacular video footage. i know, i know, i can hardly wait myself!

wow! you all sure are full of questions lately. so, here you have it, straight from the horse’s mouth – which i’d like to add is one of nugget’s newest words. she surprised us both this morning while packing away a shot glass from kentucky by pointing to and saying “horse.”
anyhow, it seems i have some ’splaining to do. perhaps, gentle reader, we know each very well. in that case you are likely painfully aware of my penchant for quotes, song, book, movie, tv and advertising-related.
maybe we’re members of a clique that torture each other regularly with this silly game and you’ve been playing along all the while, giggling with delight.
lots of you have been googling my post titles to figure out exactly why i came to string those very words together. i didn’t. someone else did. and since i like the way they said it, i used it to set the tone for that specific post, page or this entire blog. whatever they said, it is stuck in my head and has since become just one more piece of me.
sometimes i’ll quote a line or two if i really want to drive a point home, or make it a little more obvious where those words came from. maybe a song was grinding a deep groove in my brain and the only way to unstick the repeat button was to bang it out on a page. i might have purchased a new book or watched a movie, and the title is fresh in my mind. we might have had a chat on the phone recently and i thought you’d find it hilarious if i blogged about our conversation’s topic.
there’s also the chance that you’ve had no idea that i’ve been entertaining myself, and perhaps an equally nerdy friend or two, in this manner. see what fun you’ve been missing? you’d better make with the googling and catch up!
i think those of you who have been playing along at home need to step it up a notch and call it out when you know it. in fact, whoever gets the most correct answers each month will win a fabulous prize! oh, you’re sure to be delighted when you receive a fine packet of seeds, a collection of ugly local postcards, a vintage sewing pattern or my most recent one-of-a-kind crafty obsession project!
you’ve also been asking about sharing my blog with your friends, families, coworker, neighbors and postal carriers. silly rabbit! this is a public blog. i want you to share it with everyone. i also want you to keep in mind that i won’t censor myself for anyone’s benefit. if you don’t think grandma wants to hear me drop the occasional f-bomb or that you pastor doesn’t want to see my semi-exposed breast being used as nature and god intended, then perhaps you might want to direct them to a blog about kittens and puppies. if your sister is thinking about ivf or your milkman wants to read about attachment parenting, this might be the place for them! your boss has cancer and likes hear someone else’s bitching and moaning about it? then come on down! you’re the next contestant on bits of myself!
