candy girl, you’re off for some summer fun and we won’t get to wish you farewelll in person. have a safe trip and lots of fun. nugget will be anxiously awaiting her postcard! we’ll miss you tons!
i’ll get my cbc results today, so check back for a follow up post with that info.
nugget and i are at my parents so i can go make the final selections today for the new house. i’m finally feeling pretty good. the pain killer that i got for my jaw is making a huge difference. more on that too later, when i’m not on dial-up. grrrr.
one last final tidbit before i hang up, i’m going to have my very own locks of love hair drive! i’ve already had my first volunteer donate. she’ll be getting a shiny blog post of her very own as soon as her mommy sends me a photo for it. i am soooo proud of her and can’t wait to show off her new haircut to you all. what a great big thing for a little girl to do. i hope you, your friends and family will join us! if you do, please include a note about my drive in your donation form to locks of love. be sure to check with your salon or stylist when you make your appointment because most of them will do your donation hair cut & style for free!

Barbara’s story is truly amazing,
I appreciate that she took the time to share it with you on your blog. I am so happy that I could read words that are more than words, they are a person breathing life…each day with their family and they know how fragile it is, strong it can be, the beauty in it…yet the shortness of it all and that there are simply things that we cannot control…and it is what it is…
Truly inspiring. I will pray for her daughter and her husband.

HI,
I work with Michelle Butler and she mentioned that you were recently diagonosed with Hodgkin’s…I had Hodgkin’s just 4 1/2 short years ago…underwent 8 cycles of Chemo and 2 weeks of radiation….I am doing great and will be a 5 year survivor this December. At the time of my diagonosis I had a 11 year old girl, a 8 year old boy, and a 3 year old girl.
At that time I had convinced my family that I had our family statistically covered for Hodgkin’s….and then last April (2008) our 15 year old daughter was also diagonsed with Hodgkin’s and is now undergoing Chemothrerapy….what a shock it was and still is for us. Pediatric tratment and side effects are simsilar but different than adult and what I expereinced….My treatments went very well and I flew through it….my daughter is doing well considering…(the hair is such a huge thing for all of us) but she is fighting to keep positive…she should be done with her treatments early July.
I just wanted to send you a note and offer my phone number and email address if you would like to talk…I found it very helpful to talk to someone who had been through it…. had children… and just really understood how I felt.
Life’s journey is unbelievable at times and seems so unfair…but I really believe that it is not at all about how fair it is just “what it is” Our attitude toward our challenges is everthing…. how we react each day to what comes our way….is the most important thing and is also how others treat us in return….As you know life is a very precious thing and so each moment should be celebrated in a positive way even when life seems very negative.
I don’t know anything about you other than what I read on your blog but I have had a very rough 5 years…my hodgkin’s…. my husband lost his job and is still out of work…my father died of lung cancer last year and now my daughter is suffering from cancer treatment…..it sounds really sucky but you know what right now at this moment we are all okay and happy and this moment I am very happpy to be writng and sharing with you….all we have is this moment the past dosen’t matter and the future may never be so with this enjoy and try to be happy in some small way each moment as you look around in gratitude in all that you do have.
I’ll be thinking of you and your family…praying…and sending you lots of positive energy.
Fondly, Barbara Yokom
